Dear Reader,

Welcome to the second issue of Conte. It has been four months since our inaugural issue, and our journal has matured immensely in that small amount of time, generating an ever-growing number of readers and contributors. Through our meager advertising efforts and the vast power of word-of-mouth promotion, Conte continues to attract creative, thoughtful individuals from all over the world who believe in our narrative mission. It is our hope that future issues will see this same degree of intense prosperity.

We are quite proud of the poetry and fiction in this second issue. Our editorial staff combed through hundreds of submissions to carefully select the pieces included here, making this issue slightly smaller—but no less intense—than our first. Once again, the writing we present is thematically potent and unique as snowflakes; it represents the exceptional work of students, scholars, professional writers, and previously unpublished voices. It is nothing short of refreshing to see such an eclectic mix united in one publication.

No one is more surprised by the success of this project than its editors, and we are deeply grateful for all the writers and readers who keep us afloat. Our literary pipedream is now a concrete reality. If this is your first time visiting Conte, we invite you to read both issues, explore our new design, and share us with your friends and colleagues.

We’re in this together.
